Fast becoming one of the biggest names in British Hot Air Ballooning, Wickers World are now firmly established as the Midlands and the North West’s most successful and popular passenger flights company. For more than 23 years we have flown more passengers on more flights than any other operator in the area scheduling flights all year round from Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Worcestershire or Herefordshire, Cheshire or Shropshire, and Warwickshire or Gloucestershire which proudly boast some of the UK’s most beautiful scenery.

Established back in 1987 by the experienced and well known commercial balloonists Jon Rudoni and Andy Rawson, Wickers World has the ability to fly more than 6000 thousand passengers every year and owns a fleet of ten beautiful balloons. We believe that it is down to the family nature of our business that we are so popular; we can offer a passion for the art of ballooning, and a service which cannot be matched by a company which is not ran by family. Each of our members wants to make this work and thoroughly enjoys their role within the company. Our customers matter to us, and the service we give, coupled with our passengers’ thoughts and opinions are of upmost importance.

Safety is paramount and so all of our aircrew hold unrestricted commercial pilot’s licences, issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, and have a minimum of 1000 hours flying balloons. We ensure that each pilot has undergoes an annual flight examination and medical to ensure that we are constantly providing a high regard for passenger safety. Because our balloons are classified as Public Transport Category aircrafts, they are granted a certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) when manufactured. These certificates are then revalidated after every 100 hours of flight (or 12 months – whichever comes first), at which point the balloon is carefully inspected by CAA approved technicians. Wickers World are also issued an Air Operators Certificate (AOC) by the CAA every year. This follows a site visit and rigorous inspection by the CAA’s auditors; our individual AOC licence number is BL027.
